Hello 2015

Hello Friends,

I am officially out of ‘holiday’ mode and ready to dive into some inspiring new collaborative projects. Did you know that 2015 is International Year of Light? At Engage Arts, we are developing a project to transport this illuminating festival idea to Brisbane and looking forward to collaborating with our talented digital partner Human Media.

In celebration of creativity and technology, Danielle our content curator and blogger will be exploring digital storytelling, interactive content and multimedia experiences. She will be putting artists and creative projects in the spotlight as well as reviewing exhibitions, festivals and events that we are looking forward to. We want the Engage Arts blog, to become a space for exploration and dialogue.

I look forward to sharing our projects with you, and wish everyone an inspiring start to the year,

Kerry Turnbull

Restaurant | Media Luna

Restaurant Branding Project

The owners of Media Luna, a Mexican Restaurant located in Sydney’s beach-side suburb of Clovelly wanted an eye-catching identity incorporating images from the popular Mexican game ‘La Loteria’. In response to the brief we proposed a vibrant colour palette, drawing on the original Mexican La Loteria hand-painted signs and a bespoke interior fit-out. La Loteria images were re-purposed into large painted timber frames and used as a graphic motif on the walls. The restaurant interior featured a large custom-upholstered bench, designed to encourage groups and parties within the snug interior space. Mosaic tiles and mirrors were installed on the bar adding a theatrical backdrop to the bar’s house specialty margaritas.

For this project we consulted with the graphic designers at Elkemo, who designed the Media Luna logo, signage, stationary and menu. The combination of traditional themes with bright beach chic achieved the Mexican flair that our clients were looking for.
